Coastside Leadership Academy History
November 2021
The Dawning- During a hike in the Pescadero Marsh, Claire and LaRue stopped on a platform overlooking the wetlands and ocean. During meditation we had visions of educating young women through mindfulness and movement in nature. We felt called to this work, and this was the beginning of our journey. We now call the platform Inspiration Platform.

February 2022
We ran our first advertisement in the Half Moon Bay Review for a Summer Seminar for teen girls under the name Coastside Leadership Academy. We had our first sign ups for the summer camp and CLA was officially in business.
March 15th, 2022
Claire and LaRue officially started a business partnership to open an Academy for girls called Coastside Leadership Academy. The Summer Seminar would be the pilot program and we would open CLA in Fall of 2022 for our first cohort.
May 1st, 2022
Coastside Leadership Academy went live on the internet through our website and social media accounts.
May 4th, 2022
Claire and LaRue were featured in Coastside Magazine’s Celebrating Women issue. Coastside Leadership Academy was profiled and enrollment information for our Fall 2022 cohort was announced.
May and June 2022
Coastside Leadership Academy was featured in local news channels including the Half Moon Bay Review, Daily Journal, KHMB Radio, Coastside Buzz, and Bay Area Parent Magazine.
July 7th, 2022
Coastside Leadership Academy participated in our first community event at Make it Main Street in Half Moon Bay.
July 9th, 2022
Claire and LaRue presented at the Burlingame Library Summer Seminar Speaker Series as the Founders of Coastside Leadership Academy. Our presentation “Let’s Talk About Rest” focused on the importance of rest and downtime for teen mental health and social emotional development. We also presented a follow up presentation, “Let’s Talk About Emotions” focusing on the science of emotions and how to support teens develop self awareness.

Coastside Leadership Academy hosted our first Summer Leadership Seminar for girls ages 14-17 in Moss Beach.
September 6th, 2022
The official first day of programming for our high school cohort at Coastside Leadership Academy.
